The Effect of the Dwelling Environment on Rural Elderly Cognition: Empirical Evidence from China

Due to the falling birth rate and large-scale rural–urban migration, ageing population in rural China is critical, quality of life elderly needs be given more attention. In recent years, as an important part new construction China, environment has been greatly improved, but impact such environmental improvement on health not clear. Based Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) data, this paper aims assess effect indoor dwelling cognition among by using a series difference-in-difference models (DID) under counterfactual causality framework. The results showed that first, both toilet type in-house shower/bath facility had significant overall memory delayed immediate did pass test.
